Demisting Closures and Louvers

MRL — Moisture Rejection Louver

The only aluminum demister accepted by ABS, the MRL removes droplets and particles from the intake and exhaust air of any machinery space.

The MRL’s patented design can filter out particles as small as 15 microns, with an extremely low pressure drop.

With a depth of only 6.5 inches (165 mm), the MRL takes up minimal space.

The MRL is made primarily of aluminum and stainless steel. That means it complies with section 116.610 of the US Title 46 of the CFR

MRC — Moisture Rejection Closure

 Like the MRL (above), the MRC removes droplets and particles from the intake and exhaust air of any machinery space. The twist? It’s also a weather closure. That means you won't need bulky weather-tight doors or plates to close your vents.

That makes it the only aluminum closure/demister accepted by ABS.

Our patented designed uses Air-Foils that pivot open and close, creating a weather-tight closure.

With a depth of only 6.5 inches (165 mm), the MRC takes up minimal space.

The MRC meets ABS regulations for marine weather closures, and is capable of withstanding over 55 PSI of direct spray in the closed position.

To open and close the MRC, a method of actuation is required.  We offer several different types of electrical actuators or manual actuation cables.

In the event of a fire, the MRC also helps contain fire suppressant inside a machinery space.

Fire Dampers

Zazz Fire Dampers have been designed for inclusion in air conditioning and ventilation systems, in dry filtered air, and are tested and approved for fitting to class A-60 divisions.

Our Fire Dampers are constructed from 1.2mm galvanized steel (2mm and 3mm options available), with a 40mm flanged rectangular casing. Circular casings are also available.

Electrical controls are fitted with halogen-free, low smoke and fume electrical cable. They have a 60 second reset time and a 20 second release time.

We can configure fire dampers with an electrical or pneumatic actuator. Each actuator has an Integral Safety Temperature Sensor rated at 72°C. End switches are provided with each mode for reset and release monitoring.

Axial Fans

Our axial fans are designed for high performance and superior durability. We offer several unique series of fans, all highly configurable to meet your needs. Fans are available in diameters of 12 to 84 inches.  

FSB - This series features a highly efficient standard airfoil blade design, which provides low power consumption and low noise. The FSB series excels at moving high volumes of air with a relatively low sound signature. 

 FSBH - This series uses a true airfoil blade with a longer chord length than our FSB series. This raises static pressure, allowing FSBH series fans to maintain high performance at lower rotational speeds. Applications include: machinery cooling, radiators, oil coolers, and Tier IV emissions solutions.  Zazz has utilized these fans extensively in OSV/PSV marine duty ventilation where high static pressures and long ducting are frequently needed. 


FQS - This series features a quiet sickle-blade design. The thin trailing edges generate very little turbulence, resulting in up to 7 dBA in noise reduction. The FQS series delivers high static pressure with a low sound signature.

FFR - This series features a fully reversible true airfoil blade design, and is the only series that produces equally high airflow in forward and reverse rotation. More cost-effective than variable pitch fans, FFR series fans are especially effective in applications where airflow needs to be reversed at a moment's notice, while maintaining equal volume and static pressure.

FCR - This series features two contra-rotating impellers, working in tandem to produce static pressures 2-3 times greater than that of a single fan. Unlike vane axial fans, this two-stage, redundant configuration also complies with classifications requiring a back-up in case of a motor failure. This series is ideal for applications where very high static pressures are needed.

 Fan Construction

• Fan housings are constructed of welded marine-grade 5052 aluminum alloy.

• All hardware for mounting of motors and terminal boxes is 18-8 or 316 stainless steel. Threaded inserts are aircraft-grade stainless steel.

• Where required, we offer motors that meet IEEE-45 and USCG CFR46 requirements. These motors are cast iron construction and epoxy-dipped, specifically for marine use.

• We use a teflon-based anti-seize compound on all fastenings that may need to be removed for future maintenance.

• Some motors up to 10 HP feature bearings lubricated for life.

• All electrical connections are on the exterior of the housing, making all fans suitable for in-duct installations.

• Motors requiring periodic lubrication have the grease fittings remote-mounted to the exterior of the fan housing, near the electrical junction box. This allows for a single point of connection and maintenance.

• All fans are extensively tested and torque checked. After testing, any places where lubrication cannot be used (such as the bushing that locks the fan hub to the motor shaft) are exterior spray-coated with an anti-corrosion protectant. 

 Ventilation Control Systems 

 ATC - Automated Touch Control  

ATC is a configurable ventilation control system, designed to work in total harmony with your application.

ATC consists of several products:

• Touchscreen(s) rated NEMA 4/IP66
• CPU Enclosure(s) rated NEMA 4/IP66
• Remote Temperature Sensor(s)
• Variable Frequency Drive(s)
• Line/Load Reactor(s)


In its ‘Auto’ mode, ATC uses data from the temperature and pressure sensors to automatically regulates intake and exhaust airflow to maintain optimal temperature and/or pressure.

When ATC is in ‘Manual’ mode, you can change fan speed and direction with just a touch.

All the wiring in ATC uses RS-485 over Modbus, a digital standard based on Ethernet. This makes installation and cabling much simpler than older analog systems.
